Super thrifty craft project!
I found this cute framed message board at the thrift store for $3.89. Of course it did not look like this when I got it. The frame was a brown solid wood in great shape. However, I wish I would have taken a before picture because the material and the ribbon part was not in great shape. It was a really yucky, dirty cream color. So I decided I was going to give it a face lift. I just love how it turned out. I took the whole thing a part and painted the frame black. Next I replaced the old material with this new darling red and cream upholstery fabric. Then I added the ribbon and buttons. The bottom of the frame has a little cubby that holds mail and such. I placed two hooks on the front on each side and a cute decorative knob between the two hooks to hold keys and things. I may change the color of the hooks and the knob to match the cream color of the fabric. I'm still undecided. The colors were chosen to match my sisters kitchen in her new home. This is her house warming gift.
I hope you like it as much as I do Anina!

My inspiration for tackling a little project like this came from Brooke at allthingsthrifty.com. After seeing the amazing transformations she makes with furniture by giving it a little paint and TLC made me realize that maybe I can do amazing things too. So this thrift store find became my first test drive. I love how it turned out and now maybe I can try something a little bigger. Who knows I just might surprise you! ;-)
